Cosplay/Costume: 

Shoes are required at all times while in the public areas of the conventions center. Even if a cosplay character goes barefoot, the cosplayer must wear shoes.

Any attendee wearing a big build costume, or one with poor visibility, should have a handler available to escort him/her. In addition, please ensure any bulky costume is properly ventilated to prevent heat stroke. 

All cosplays/costumes shall not expose the body in such a way as to be deemed indecent exposure.  There are no exceptions. THIS IS A FAMILY FRIENDLY EVENT!

Any masks or facial coverings are allowed but should be easy to remove (and removed if staff or security request it.) 

Prop Policy

All costume props must comply with the official Game & Geek Expo Cosplay Policy.

All prop weapons must be inspected and peace-bonded each day of the convention.

Replica projectile weapons, arrows, or similar props must be rendered inoperable and fitted with brightly colored safety tips.

All costume props must comply with all applicable local, state, and federal laws, as well as, GGE & Raleigh Convention Center Policies. 

Props not approved during prop check/security inspection must be returned to your vehicle, hotel room, or another off-site location. We will not hold onto your props. 

If you do not want to have your costume prop(s) inspected or tagged, please do not bring your props.

If you are not willing to comply with these policies. You will not be permitted into the building. NO EXCEPTIONS. 

Prohibited Props

The following are not permitted:

• Actual Weapons
• Functional weapons
• Sharp-edged props
• Open flames
• Smoke or fog effects
• Pyrotechnics
• Live animals (Service Animals are permitted.)
• Any material, substance or effect that creates a safety hazard or excessive mess
• Symbols and costumes depicting or associated with discrimination, harassment, or hate groups.

Conduct in Cosplay:

The following are strictly prohibited:

• Hate speech or discriminatory content
• Political or religious demonstrations
• Explicit sexual content or nudity
• Statements or actions that are intended to harass, threaten, or target another individual for ANY reason!

Attendees may not perform any action that could endanger themselves, fellow attendees, staff or others. 

If you want to take a photo of a cosplayer, it’s proper to ask first. Most will be happy to strike a pose! Remember Friends! Consent is key!

Game & Geek Expo reserves the right to deny entry to any attendee if their costume or actions are determined to be inappropriate or unsafe.
